November 8, 2014 Stony Kill Farm/Manor House

It was a chilly but pretty and sunny day.  There were 11 of us to enjoy the walk.  We began at the house and followed the Verplanck Ridge Trail down to the farm.  We peeked into the barn area to check out some of the animals but we were too early for them to be outside.
Six of us enjoyed brunch at the 84 Diner.

We began on the Woodland Trail and moved on to Verplanck

There was still some nice color in the leaves

November 1, 2014 REESE PARK

It was a gloomy, cold day but not raining so CJ and I headed for Reese Park and sat there hoping that someone would show up so that we didn't waste a 50+ mile round trip.  And, happily, Pat and John arrived.  The four of us explored all of the different trails on the right side and then returned to the parking area by walking along the creek.  There were only four of us but we had an enjoyable walk.
CJ and I enjoyed brunch at the Red Line.

This doe observed us as we sat in the parking lot.

The creek

This kind of looked like a raft with two mossy logs surrounding a plank of wood.

There was still a little color in the leaves and a place to relax.

For some reason people have decided to mar this park by dumping their garbage.

We have no idea what this is for.

The pond.

This bench has seen better days.

October 25, 2014 VANDERBILT ESTATE

This blog is late due to many time consuming commitments the week after the walk.
It was a pretty, sunny day with a pleasant fall temperature and eight of us walked.  Four of us brunched at the Eveready Diner.

What happened here?

We arrived at the river.

This building is across a little cove...home or business?   Lots of windows.

This steep uphill trail is shorter but more strenuous than the paved road.

The fountain in the garden.

One of several of the last roses of summer.

Pretty leaves surrounding the window.

Enjoying the view in front of the mansion.

A barge on the river.

The mansion is just barely visible.

Unusual tree.
