April 27, 2013 Roosevelt Farm

What a beautiful day!!  There was sun, blue sky and it was warm...a perfect day to be outside.

After the walk list was published, we learned that the entrance for this walk had been moved to the old Hyde Park drive in parking lot.  The directions said to park at the Hyde Park Steakhouse & Brewing and look for the trail head.  I assumed that the entrance from the Steakhouse was no longer open and people would be forced to look for the new entrance [it never occurred to me that there might be two entrances]...a real duh - NEVER ASSUME.  We should have checked to see if anyone had parked there because at least two people chose the.  My humble apology to Fran and Carol who we encountered on the trail and to anyone else who may have used that lot.  I'm really sorry we didn't get to walk with you.

There were 13 of us who walked from the drive in parking lot.  The trail has been renovated and is macadam and wide making for a very nice walk.  There are also several newly built bridges.  Although I know I've walked this site previously, I didn't remember any of it but the new one is excellent.

this pic doesn't show it well but there were many downed trees in this area

swamp grass

our slower group met the faster group on their way back from the end of the trail

Seven of us had brunch at Table Talk.  After, CJ and I decided to scout a future walk at Slabsides.  Here's a preview:
there's a really nice lake

you can walk out on a peninsula
