June 1, 2013 Slabsides

It was hot but we were early enough and mostly in wooded shade so it wasn't too bad.  I had previously walked a portion of this walk from the road to the peninsula.  There were 13 of us and we walked to the pond house which is beyond the peninsula and then walked thru the woods back to the peninsula.  It was a nice walk - not too long which was good for such a hot day.  Eight of us enjoyed lunch at the Gateway Diner in Highland.
There are several other trails here  and we discussed the possibility of returning in the fall and this time walking down from Burroughs' cabin.  [There are waterfalls  located on the South Pond Trail that goes from the cabin down to the trail(s) we walked.]
