MAY 30, 2015 MANITOU POINT

This was a new walk for us and I think we'll do it again in the future.  There were 14 of us and it was a pretty, sunny day.  It wasn't that hot but all of us had worked up a sweat by the time we finished walking.
There was no official brochure with a trail map; just two large signs in the parking area showing  several different trails. In addition, I had a small map from the Poughkeepsie Journal.    Thankfully, two of our group had visited the area recently and suggested we take the dirt road to the blue trail that goes along the river and we did that.  The portion of the blue trail we wanted began just over the railroad crossing by the former home of the Livingston family.  It is now the headquarters of the Open Space Institute.
After the walk, five of us brunched at the Hudson Hills Restaurant in Cold Spring.

At first we followed the road

Crossing the stone culvert

abandoned building of unknown origin

We crossed the tracks

The former Livingston home now Open Space headquarters

Some of the trail was quite wide

and some not so much

I thought we'd be closer to the river but we were quite high above it.

We went under and over quite a few trees.  [There were no rocks nearby John]

We crossed the stream on the way back.
