March 23 & 16 - Marist College & Vassar College

March 23 - Marist College - 2nd walk of season

The blogs are not going well at the moment.  Apparently I need another lesson.  I'm unable to change the info in the sidebar to reflect the change in dues to $4.  Hopefully I'll be able to do this soon.  In addition, I took pictures at both walks and have either lost the memory stick or never had one in the camera.  Right now I don't have any pictures to publish [but there is definitely a memory stick in camera for tomorrow].
First I apologize humbly to Verna, Rich and Helen who followed my directions to the parking lot down the hill on the right.  At the Vassar walk I learned that the Main Gate to Marist is now closed.  I must confess I didn't consult the printed directions and our carload of five  decided to enter via the South Gate and  we parked by the McCann Rec Center.  We checked the upper parking area by the Main Gate but by the time we walked by the lower lot the other three were apparently gone.  [It was after 9:30 when we finally got started., It was overcast and a little chilly, especially by the river,  but still an enjoyable walk.  And there was actually a little bit of sun as we ended.
There were 13 of us including new members Lisa and Earl.  On our way back to the parking lot we ran into Verna who explained what had happened to the three of them.  I'm sorry we missed them.
Prior to last year, I rode with others once I reached Dutchess County and I didn't pay attention to the directions or where we parked...so its been a learning experience to say the least.  I am trying and hope all of you will be patient with me as I muddle along.
If it's any help for the future, unless something major happens the morning of the walk eg: [sudden illness or car breakdown], I or someone else who has agreed to lead the walk will be there somewhere.  Please look around for me.

March 16 - Vassar College - 1st walk of season

After the walk list was published, we learned that there would be a Heart Walk at Vassar.  Since there was no way to inform everyone of this snag, we decided to join the crowd.
What a great turnout!!!   We totalled 16 including Pat's mom, Mary; Carol's husband, Bill and Florence who stopped by and joined us briefly for the walk.  It was good to see that she's getting around again.
There were a lot of people on the campus participating in the Heart Walk and we wandered around with them.  It did make our walk a bit confusing and the walk was a bit short...and cold but it was really good to get oudoors and do some walking.
