SEPTEMBER 26, 2015 WINDING HILLS PARK

The day started out a bit chilly and overcast but it was pleasant weather for walking.  There were nine of us.  We walked along the lake shore and most followed a loop trail back.  Four then continued walking along the shore toward the boat house while five of us rested and chatted.
This was the last walk for CJ and David and we wished them a sad farewell and a happy new life in Florida.
Seven of us had breakfast at the Iron Cafe in Montgomery.  This is a very small place but we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun and plantings.  We all agreed that our meals were excellent and very reasonable.  We'll need to find some more area walks so we can dine there again.

The lake

There were several benches along the trail.

This tree fell and was caught between two others.

The foundation for a former building.  There was a description nearby which was mostly erased by weather.

There seem to be stone walls just about everywhere we walk.

Enjoying some fishing

There were people fishing across the lake too.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2015 NORRIE POINT

It was a perfect day for walking and picnicking...sun, blue skies, not too hot, a little breeze.  We had discussed the possibility of not having a picnic and then decided to go back to Norrie Point and try another picnic.  There were 14 of us and I think we all agreed that it was a good decision.  I know that, for me, it was a very enjoyable day.
It's amazing how we manage to get such a good variety of tasty food with a just "bring what you want" direction.
We walked up the hill on the paved road and then turned right and followed what was supposed to be the yellow trail but most of it had red markers.  I had a new map but it didn't seem to correspond with what we followed.  We hadn't been on the trail previously and it was a nice, new direction.
The picnic followed with good food and good company.
Right now it's difficult to determine what a new year will bring; but right now I think it's safe to say the picnic is worthwhile and we'll do it again at Norrie Point next year.

We stopped first at the marina

Hudson view from the marina

There's a nice little picnic area near the marina

View of the marina from the road

And the other side of the road.

Trail view...it was nice walking in this area.

And another trail view.

We did get to the monument.
The tide had begun to come in as we walked back to the environmental center.

What a nice group.
