8/22/2015 ARDEN POINT/GLENCLYFFE

It was a beautiful day for walking.  There was sun, blue sky and a pleasant temperature.  Our group numbered 17.
We ordinarily turn left after crossing over the railroad tracks but this time we turned right and walked toward Arden Point.  I think it was the first time I had made it there.  We wandered around a bit and eventually ended up at the trestle over the tracks and then back to the station.
Five of us dined at the Yankee Clipper.

It's hard to see the ruins here

And another ruin.

On the way to the Hudson.

We [Dave] left a rock.

There were many downed trees on the trail.

A "fringed" West Point from Arden Point.

And a clear view.

Some of the West Point housing.

At Arden Point.

There were obstacles.

And, of course, a stone wall.

There was another point where we could walk down to the river.

Three pix of a little inlet.

There's a train in the background.

There were a lot of rocks on this tree.

AUGUST 15, 2015 PINEWOODS AND HACKETT HILL

These two parks were new to most of us and, since they are both short walks and near each other in Hyde Park, the walks were combined.  This worked out well because it was a very hot and humid day; fortunately both were through the woods and shaded.  We numbered only eight.
We began at Pinewoods which had only one trail and then drove to Hackett Hill where we chose the green trail.  There are two other trails and on another day we would have had no problem walking all three
After the walk, two of our group decided to continue walking at nearby Winnakee and three of us dined at the Eveready Diner.

It was a nice trail through the woods

Crum Elbow Creek

There was a small waterfall

A little trickle here thanks to some recent much needed rain.

There's a very nice house barely visible through the trees

We headed past the ball fields on the way to Pinewoods parking.

The Hackett Hill trail

Some art work that was handing from a tree.

There were signs for giant rock and I think this was it.

AUGUST 8, 2015 LONG DOCK & DENNINGS POINT

It was a sunny, warm with a slight breeze, blue sky day.  There were 15 of us.  The walk toward Dennings Point was pretty much shaded and pleasant and sunny and warmer on the way back.  When we reached Dennings Point, we opted to continue and walk the entire loop.  While there, we encountered a photographer who was taking pictures of an owl.  He's a pro from Newburgh who at one time worked taking race car pix with Paul Newman.
Eleven of us enjoyed brunch at the Yankee Clipper.

I almost got the owl but it's a pretty bad pic.
